They say two heads are better than one... But I'm not so sure this is what they meant!

They say two heads are better than one… But I’m not so sure this is what they meant!

I have to admit…

I’m now nearly two full months into publishing Breakthrough Marketing Secrets…

And I’ve been getting all sorts of accolades for it…

But for the last month I’ve been, well, confused…

And, in fact, I’m having a bit of an identity crisis!

You see, I started this thinking I’d be speaking mostly to business owners and marketers…

Sharing my best insights and experiences into proven-in-the-trenches, tried-and-true direct response marketing methods.

The kind of info that’s timeless. Strategies. Principles. Approaches that work in any media. The stuff that if you learn it today, no matter how your selling messages are being consumed in 30 years, it will still apply.

But then I let a few articles on copywriting slip through — because, well, that’s a world where I have a lot of experience…

And I justified it because, well, I believe copywriting is the most valuable skill in a direct response business… Heck, any business that sells direct through media (including the internet).

If you don’t have a sales team to close sales, then you REALLY need copy that can do the work.

And even if you do have a sales team, they’ll have better results if there’s copy that does a lot of the heavy lifting for them.

So I didn’t hesitate to start talking about copywriting…

But then I got a flood of copywriters on my list!

Everything from chomping-at-the-bit, ambitious rookies…

To a few solid pros (who probably have just as much right to be writing these things as I do)…

And, well…

I let the fact that there’s a bunch of copywriters on the list steer me off course a bit…

And for a while, I was writing so much about copy — both the craft, and the business of being a freelance copywriter — that I had a few business owner friends and subscribers tell me…

“Roy, I thought this was supposed to be a MARKETING newsletter!”

They were 100%, absolutely, totally right!

And even though I knew it the moment I heard it (and even before), I haven’t known what to do about it.

I’ve just kept plugging along…

Putting out more and more articles…

But always wondering if I was doing too much one thing or another…

YES, I’m going to keep talking about copywriting…

Sometimes the art and science of it…

Sometimes the biz of being a copywriter…

But I don’t want to get too lost in the topic…

Because I want to make sure I keep delivering YOU the marketing and business breakthroughs I promised as well!

Which led me to think seriously about how to make it all happen.

And…

That leads me to the big change I’m making to Breakthrough Marketing Secrets, starting next week…

THEME DAYS!

I’m not going to get cheesy or over the top with these…

But they’ll help me organize, and make sure I’m giving you a mix of my best breakthroughs…

And that also give me room to throw in a few surprises here and there…
