Should you focus your service business?

Or should you take any project from any client that will have you?

I have a bit of a different answer to this.  That’s the topic of today’s video.

First though, the question that prompted today’s video…

Roy,

Should I focus on one thing, like home page copy and design, or be an end-to-end copywriter/designer who does everything? (re: copy + design… I am starting a business with a friend who is an amazing designer. We just don’t know exactly what to focus on as we have wide backgrounds in copy, design, and branding. So stay generalist, or become ultra-focused?

Anthony

To niche, or not to niche — that is the question…

But my answer isn’t as simple as…

“You should pick a specific type of copy to write.”

… or…

“You should only write for one little niche market or topic area.”

Rather, I zoom out to the actual purpose of your business…

The purpose of any product or service offering…

And start there.

This is like a hyper-condensed version of Milestone 1 from my Client-Getting Blueprint training, on creating a starter offer when launching your client business.

And in today’s video, I go into the SPECIFIC questions you need to ask as you seek to answer this question.

In short, YES, you should specialize…

And yet, the answer is a few degrees off from the expected (at least based on the wording of the question asked)…

And thus FAR more valuable.

My answer is in today’s video.

Watch now.

Yours for bigger breakthroughs,
