He stole our iPad — then I used copywriting to get us a new one!

It’s been a long time since I’ve told this story.

But when I was approached to be on a British podcast about email marketing, it just seemed like a perfect fit.

They wanted something fun to talk about on a podcast about email marketing.

And I remembered the time…

— A robber broke in my house at 4 AM…

— I chased him out of the house, punching him relentlessly as he tried to get out the front door…

— We realized he’d stolen our iPad…

— Our kids were in more tears about the iPad than the fact that a robber had come into our house while they slept…

— Then, I had the hare-brained idea to run a “fire-sale” of sorts to pay to replace the iPad…

Here’s a link to the podcast…

Side note: There are a few 4-letter words casually thrown out by the hosts.  Doesn’t bother me one bit, but if it bothers you, you might want to skip this.

There’s more email marketing goodies in there, too…

— You’ll learn the thinking behind effective email marketing campaigns…

— What made that one so successful…

— How you can apply it for a fast cash flow infusion in your business, WITHOUT getting your house broken into…

— What being candid and a real human being can do for your marketing results…

— How you can sell hard while remaining anti-hype…

— How I borrowed one of the principles from this campaign to help my kids raise money in a school fundraiser…

— My thinking behind how to start and end email campaigns — and what to do in between, too…

… And quite a bit more.

(All in just about 21 minutes!)

Listen now…

I think you’ll enjoy listening!

Honestly, it’s rare I find a marketing podcast that I think of as “fun.”  Valuable, yes.  Fun, no.  But these guys nailed it with their entire show format.  Really reminds me of Mike Mandel’s Brain Software podcast on hypnosis.  And one of the co-hosts of this email podcast is also a hypnotist?  Interesting…

Oh yeah, and here’s another element of fun.  They start with a “two lies and a truth” game where one of the co-hosts has to guess a crazy truth about me.  I pulled out something from high school that I probably haven’t talked about in at least a decade.  See if you can guess before I reveal…

Plus make sure you listen to the very end, because I give a tip in their “subject line of the week” that will help you boost your open rates on every email you write.

Again, here’s that link to the podcast…

You can listen online from there.  You can also download.  Plus there are links to Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Google Podcasts.

If you have a preferred podcast player, you can also search for “The Email Marketing Show” from Response Suite, and find S1E30, “How To Turn Everyday Life Events Into Mega Email Sales — Intruder Alert With Roy Furr.”

That’s it for now.
