There’s a song released by the band Tool back in 1996…

And it’s intentionally very offensive.

It actually calls out a fan who criticized the band.

He tells them that they “Sold out.”

And the song is their reply.

There is a profound marketing lesson in the song…

And frankly, I think it’s a big part of why last September, nearly 25 years later, the band was able to release a new album and knock Taylor Swift off the top of the charts.
