Today, I want to share with you something you prospect is DYING to hear…

In fact, not just your prospect.  Not just your customer.

YOU.  ME.  Every single other human being on the planet.

This is one of those things that we’ve been yearning to hear — really yearning — ever since we were small children with developing desires, and little things in the world started not going exactly as we wanted them to.

And it applies in so many areas of life.

But for now, we’re going to talk about success and achievement.

Overcoming problems.

Whether that’s money problems, health problems, relationship problems, whatever…

Over and over again, we’ve ALL faced problems and gotten knocked down by them — the desired solution staying just out of reach…

I write a lot for the financial markets.  This DEFINITELY applies to that biggie — retirement savings.

Nearly every single person on this planet wants MORE savings.  More resources to live the life they want to live, without worry that they’re going to run out of resources while they’ve still got a beating heart.  (And perhaps to be able to pass on some resources as well, to their offspring or to support a deserving cause.)

It also applies to health.  There are very few people walking around on this planet today who don’t have some level of guilt or self-doubt around their health.  Bad habits.  Poor choices.  Questionable decisions.  And now, everything from a few extra pounds to a debilitating disease remind them every day of a problem they feel at least partly responsible for.

And relationships?  Whew!  That’s a biggie!  Your partner — you’re constantly wrestling with that big gap between the ideal relationship you both want, and what you experience day-to-day.  Kids?  Ouch.  Despite doing the very best you know how, your kids are NOT matching up with the ideal storybook idea of what your kids would be.  What about your parents?  Friends?  Employees or coworkers?

This spider-webs into so many areas of our life.

(And NOBODY is immune — Brad and Angelina, seemingly on top of the world, are wrestling with a marriage that hit the rocks.  Billionaires find themselves miserable because they can’t find happiness in material wealth.  Someone happy and contented in their relationships struggles to make ends meet, and agonizes under the weight of mounting debt.  We all feel an acute sense of lack somewhere.)

We have an ideal — and idea of how we think things should be.  But inevitably, reality reminds us that our ideal only exists in our head, and the reality we have to deal with on a day-to-day basis is miles away from that ideal.

And somehow, some way, our conscious mind has it figured out…

We come to the inevitable conclusion: this is obviously our fault

(Even if we don’t know how or why yet.)

This is a very, very painful place to be.

In fact, you can probably think of something going on in your life right now, where you’re feeling like you’re just not living up to your expectations.

Maybe it’s in your career or business.  Maybe it is your health.  Maybe it’s in your productivity from day to day.  Maybe it’s in your relationships (or lack thereof).

I don’t know what you’re thinking of, but as you think about what you’re going through, you can probably feel it very vividly right now…

And the more vividly you feel that gap between where you are and where you want to be, the more pain and agony you feel as your mind wrestles with figuring out just how this is your fault.

Stop.

It’s not your fault…

There are a million forces at work, well beyond your conscious control, that have led you to the situation you’re in now.

While there are probably 100 smart things you could do, and 100 more you shouldn’t have done, even your doing or not doing those things is influenced by factors outside of your control.

Now, that doesn’t mean you’re powerless.

That doesn’t mean you need to give up on your ideal.

That doesn’t mean you should just give in and give fate the wheel.

In fact, you can make a decision today — a decision that’s much in line with the Serenity Prayer (and frankly, this applies no matter your religion, or even if you’re an atheist)…

God grant me the SERENITY to
accept the things I cannot change,
COURAGE to change the things I can,
and WISDOM to know the difference…

There are a million things that brought you to today, and it may not be your fault, but it’s your responsibility to figure out how to play the cards you’ve been dealt.

Wait…  Did I get off track here?  Wasn’t I going to tell you what your prospect most wants to hear?

In fact, I already did.

“It’s not your fault…”

We’re all walking around with the emotional baggage of knowing how we’re f-cked up, broken, and insecure

  1. Thinking everybody else has it all figured out (even though they really don’t), and…
  2. Blaming our brokenness — in whatever area of our life — on ourselves.

We’re aching, yearning for someone to tell us different.  We’re aching for someone to give us an out.  We’re yearning for someone to tell us it’s okay, that we’re okay, and that they can help us out.

We’re aching for someone to lead us to where we want to go, to that place where we can feel good about ourselves and get our problems solved.

I’m going to operate on one big assumption: your product or service, your offer, is able to fulfill this in full or at least in part for your prospect…

If you’re selling crap that will only lead to more disappointment, fix your deliverable before you start using this powerful principle in your marketing and selling messages.

However, if doing business with you will truly enrich the lives of your prospects…

If you’re able to legitimately bring them toward the solution they so desire to the problem that ails them…

If you’re able to legitimately point to outside influences that have led your prospect down wrong paths, and presented false solutions…

Go ahead and say it…

“It’s not your fault…”

“But once I show you the way, once I give you the wisdom to know what you need to do now, you have to have the courage to take personal responsibility, and do what you need to do to get the result you want.”

If this is the truth, and you present it in a sincere, credible, and believable way, you will experience a tremendous power to bring your prospects relief, as they follow you on your path to solving their problems.
