Hey there Rainmaker, I’ve got a hodge-podge mix of stuff for you today, fitting for the day’s theme of Grab Bag Friday…

— First, an interview where I show you how I would go into a business doing at least $5 million in revenue, and add an additional $10 million accelerated growth above and beyond their current trend line within 3 years. This is especially enlightening if YOU are the owner of a $5-million+ business, but also if you’re a marketing consultant or copywriter you’ll definitely want to give it a listen…

— Second, for copywriters (and especially novice or aspiring copywriters), I have a little announcement. I have a book that’s not about how to write copy, but about the process of getting paid as a copywriter — the business of copywriting — that will be available soon, and I have something to share related to that.

— And third, I’m going to be mixing things up this summer, starting next week, to write another book while you watch… And I want to give you a heads up about that, and how it’s going to impact these daily emails.

First off, I want to offer up an incredibly valuable interview I just did…

The context…

You may or may not know I’m now reaching out to businesses here in Nebraska. I have some soft spots, and one of them is helping my local community. One of the best ways I can use my talent to do that is to make local businesses more successful — which will fuel local jobs and the local economy.

And so I’ve made an offer for local businesses to help them grow — specifically, I’m going to work with them to add $10 million in accelerated growth over the next 3 years. As part of that, I got on the phone with Diane Sheldon-Ku (who some of you may know) and we walked through my process and background.

This was a content-packed hour of business-building wisdom, and I want to share everything I shared with you…

— You’ll hear why one of the most-respected business-builders in the $2-trillion direct response industry called on me for one of his most important marketing projects last year…

— You’ll discover business-building secrets that apply in any industry, any business, to bring in more leads and new customers, and get them spending more with you…

— You’ll hear the story of my first big marketing success, which more than doubled the business and led to the owner being able to build his dream home (all while golfing much of the week and spending minimal time in the office) — and you’ll hear my one recommendation for what to do in your business if you want to enjoy similar success…

— You’ll learn how to make ANY marketing program generate better ROI — this applies to Facebook and other online advertising, but that’s just scratching the surface…

— You’ll hear how I generated 7-figures in sales in 3 weeks, with the perfect combination of pricing, scarcity, and urgency…

— You’ll discover the three steps in a business’s growth (from $0 to $100 million), where you’re at, and where to focus efforts if you want to scale from here…

— You’ll get the single-most important number in growing your business — how to find it, and how to use it to dominate your industry…

Again, it’s an hour packed with business-building strategies, principles, and actionable tips.

You can listen to the interview here. (And if you like listening to spoken word at 2X, I’ve already sped it up for you — get the 2X speed version and listen twice as fast here.)

And if you do have a business that’s currently doing at least $5-million per year and are interested in the offer I make at the very end of the interview, send me a note at [email protected] and I’ll have Diane follow-up with you with more details.

Second off, my book for copywriters, about how to get paid…

I have a feeling this is going to be a smash hit in our little world of copywriters. And I hope you’ll help make it so, by buying it when it comes out.

I’m putting the finishing touches on my book, The Copywriter’s Guide to Getting Paid: How To Land Awesome Clients and Earn A Great Living as a Copywriter.

Here’s the cover, all fancied up with 3D graphics…

3d-cover-copywriters-guide

This book is actually the edited transcripts of an interview I did, on how to turn your copywriting skills into cash in the bank.

I really combed through every line of the transcript, so that not only would it read well, but so that I could add dimension and depth to the lessons above and beyond what was covered in the original conversation.

I also added five appendices of particularly relevant articles from Breakthrough Marketing Secrets. The kind of articles where they’re worth reading over and over again, even if you’ve read them before.

It reads fast — it’s not the longest book in the world. But that’s actually a good thing. And when I launch it, it will be priced very affordably.

Stay tuned, because I’ll have more info on this soon.

Third, you’re actually going to witness me writing a much different book over the coming weeks…

This is going to be something close to my Magnum Opus. A book that I plan will hold value for pretty much my entire career in marketing, with minimal updates. (Timeless principles and strategies of direct marketing, not faddish trends and timely-but-not-enduring tactics.)

In fact, if you were an early reader of Breakthrough Marketing Secrets, you may remember that once upon a time I had a page on the website for “The Book” that said it was coming soon.

The book itself will be called Breakthrough Marketing Secrets. And it will be something of a textbook — but with more personality — for how to create and run a direct marketing driven business. All the lessons I’ve learned that add up to maximizing your marketing success.

The book itself will be broken into sections…

— The Mental Game

— Strategies and Systems

— What You’re Selling

— How To Reach Your Customers

— Communications and Creative

Within each of these, a dozen or more small chapters or lessons that together make up a comprehensive approach.

Prior to starting these daily emails, I’d written 23 chapters, and was well into the Strategies and Systems section. Then, I dropped the book off my priority list, in favor of continuing to deliver value in these emails.

But for the summer, I’m going to be suspending my theme days (with the exception of Mailbox Mondays, which will be at my discretion and based on demand — including this coming Monday), in favor of writing one of these chapters every day. I’m going to start off by sending out edits of what I’ve already written — so you can start at the beginning.

I’ll make sure it’s clear in my emails and blog posts that it’s clear what’s going on. But if things start to look different, you know ahead of time — that’s what’s going on.

Why all the focus on books?

Well, in short, a book is an incredible — and unparalleled — credibility piece. You should seriously consider writing one. Or, like I did for the copywriters one, having someone interview you and edit the transcripts.

It’s a far better business card than a card itself.

It establishes instant credibility.

And there are a lot of ways to get it done (transcribed interview, daily blog posts) that are at least slightly less painful than how most people think of writing books.

And, if you make it good, it’s not just creating credibility — you actually have a product people will want to buy!

Have a great weekend.

Yours for bigger breakthroughs,

Roy Furr
