You’re nothing but a commodity service…

If you’re listing your services on job sites…

Categorizing yourself alongside everyone else that does those services…

And essentially promising the same things…

You’ve lost before you started.

That’s the essential problem that led to this subscriber question…

Roy,

I am a direct response copywriter, but I’m stuck finding leads in Upwork. How can I find companies that pay royalties and will share conversion data so I can improve?

I work alongside my wife.  We found copywriting through AWAI’s 6-figure course.  We started part-time in 2008, and went full-time in 2015.

I’m 64.  I only have a few years left to make enough money to make a difference in my family’s life.  Any advice you can give would be appreciated.

Thanks for your website and advice.

Bill

The solution has a few layers…

But what it basically comes down to is this…

You must quit the job sites.  And build your business such that you’re selling YOU and not the commodity service.

There are some practical, actionable steps to that.

Nothing particularly difficult (and far easier than dealing with the ongoing pain of fighting for a living off these job sites).

There are a few moments where it feels like I’m channeling “The Professor of Harsh Reality.”  But again, it’s all in service of your success.

Watch today’s video for the full answer of how to break out of the Upwork and freelancer job site trap.

Watch now.

Yours for bigger breakthroughs,

Roy Furr
